What's All the Fuss About Search Engines ???
06.01.07 (12:44 am)   [edit]

The Search Engine Anarchy

Lately we're hearing a lot about search engines being legally charged for keeping user info and similar stuff. Well, I can't see what all this fuss is about? I mean - when you ask someone for some info do you constringe him to forget what you asked him for? (probabbly you'd only make him remember more). And anyway, if you're searching for something legal it should not be a problem neither ...

Actually, what might worry most is the storage of personal data entered into web sites which are then stored into the famous Cookies. These files are saved onto the user's computer and log his actions and the time they were committed. It is stressed that such info should be private and should not leak out, neither to search engines nor to any third parties.

The main income of search engines is through advertising and so directing particular advertisements to the right consumers is fundamentle. This can be easily done through collecting info from these beloved Cookies, where user interests can be analysed through his web access and advertisments of similar interests get directed to him. Though it must be noted that search engines pledge to never give out user info to any third party.

Again I repeat - I don't see what all the fuss is about ... if we make use of their services for free, might as well help them to strive and keep on providing us with such an efficient service. If you don't like advertisements, simply don't click on them. Can you immagine the internet without search engines ... or with ones that you have to pay a subscription to use?

THE EUssROVISION or FARCEOVISION ???
05.16.07 (9:23 pm)   [edit]

It's the logo ... the flag of the host country depicted in the heart

Heh, maybe the EuroVision is just a slutty version of a mainly pop songs contest, but its one of the few words common in every European Household. In Malta, this contest is overly inflated since its one of the very few contests whith which local talent can be promoted overseas.

Actually, I don't know whether to call it EUssROVISION or FARCEOVISION instead.

But why EUssROVISION?

Simple, no? All the countries which qualified from the Semi-finals came all from the Eastern part of Europe. Again, it's the case of I-vote-for-my-neighbour-a nd-he-votes-for-me.

And FARCEOVISION for the fact that surely the best song did not win, i.e. Serbia's "Molitva" should not have won. Yehehe ... their song should not even have passed through the semi-finals as there were better songs in the Semi-Finals' than hers such as Switzerland's "Vampires Are Alive", Norway's "Ven a Bailar Conmigo" and Malta's "Vertigo" which did not even qualify. Neither did Serbia's coreography excel - in fact it was one of the worst.

Going into the Final, in my opinion there were much better and spicy performances than that of Slovenia such as Russia's "Song #1" , Finland's "Leave Me Alone"   and Belarus' "Work Your Magic". You can check them below.

I came across the following petition to mock next year's edition of the Eurovision  ... so please please sign it through the following link: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/maltamockson gforeurovision/index.html" title="http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/maltamockson gforeurovision/index.html" target="_blank"http://www.ipetitions.com/pet...

Here are the videos of 3 songs which did not even pass from the Semi-Finals:
