It has just been reported that security experts have just discovered a selection of CDs and DVDs promising hacking abilities even to those who do not know how to switch on a computer. Not that you must be a security expert to find them on ebay ...
Ironically enough they are being sold "for educational purposes" and carry a very cheap price tag, as low as £5.99. Although such tools can be freely downloaded or bought off the black market, this is usually done in a discreet way and not through such a publicized site. This is causing security experts some headaches, because their job is just being made harder as hacking tools become easily accessible to the common man on the street.
In the meantime, EBay has communicated that it is working to make sure that illegal items are not sold off its auction site. Though, one must remember that this is not the first time that hacking kits are being sold through their auction web site ... so maybe it's really about time they pull up their ass and do something definitive ...
Yes ... they have; in a protest against the high prices being charged by record labels for audio CDs. Lead singer Trent Reznor has surely not improved his relationships with his bosses, Universal Music, through this outburst stating the prices as "absurd" and as having his fans ripped off.
He came out on a stage at Sydeney on 16th September with the following:
"Last time I was here, I was doing a lot of complaining about the ridiculous prices of CDs and that story got picked up and carried all around the world.
Now my record label all around the world hates me because I yelled at them. I called them out for being greedy.
Has anyone seen the price come down? OK, well, you know what that means: steal it. Steal away. Steal and steal and steal some more and give it to all your friends and keep on stealing.
One way or another these will get it through their heads that they are ripping people off and that is not right."
Nine Inch Nails' latest album, Year Zero, carries an overinflated price tag of $30. A Universal Music executive explained to Reznor that his followers will happily pay extras to listen to his music. How did Reznor respond to this? Just STEAL !!!
A lady goes to her parish priest one day and tells him, "Father, I have a problem. I have two female parrots but they only know how to say one thing." "What do they say?" the priest inquired. "They say, 'Hi, we're prostitutes. Do you want to have some fun?" "That's obscene!" the priest exclaimed, "I can see why you are embarrassed." He thought a minute and then said, "You know, I may have a solution to this problem. I have two male parrots whom I have taught to pray and read the Bible.
Bring your two parrots over to my house and we will put them in the cage with Francis and Job. My parrots can teach your parrots to praise and worship. I'm sure your parrots will stop saying that...that phrase in no time." "Thank you," the woman responded, "this may very well be the solution."
The next day, she brought her female parrots to the priest's house. As he ushered her in, she saw this two male parrots were inside their cage, hold their rosary beads and praying. Impressed, she walked over and placed her parrots in with them. After just a couple of seconds, the female parrots exclaimed out in unison, "Hi, we're prostitutes. Do you want to have some fun?"
There was a stunned silence. Finally, one male parrot looked over at the other male parrot and said, "Put the beads away, Francis, our prayers have been answered!"
(It starts with) One thing / I don’t know why It doesn’t even matter how hard you try Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme To explain in due time All I know time is a valuable thing Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings Watch it count down to the end of the day The clock ticks life away It’s so unreal Didn’t look out below Watch the time go right out the window Trying to hold on / but didn’t even know Wasted it all just to Watch you go I kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn't even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn't even matter One thing / I don’t know why It doesn’t even matter how hard you try Keep that in mind / I designed this rhyme To remind myself how I tried so hard In spite of the way you were mocking me Acting like I was part of your property Remembering all the times you fought with me I’m surprised it got so (far) Things aren’t the way they were before You wouldn’t even recognize me anymore Not that you knew me back then But it all comes back to me In the end You kept everything inside and even though I tried / it all fell apart What it meant to me / will eventually / be a memory / of a time when I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn’t even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn’t even matter I've put my trust in you Pushed as far as I can go For all this There’s only one thing you should know I've put my trust in you Pushed as far as I can go For all this There’s only one thing you should know I tried so hard And got so far But in the end It doesn’t even matter I had to fall To lose it all But in the end It doesn’t even matter
