LOL @ Freedom of Speech
10.25.07 (8:42 pm)   [edit]

James Watson ... silenced by one of his own discoveries

Why the hell are we putting all this emphasis on freedom of speech??? That's the big question, when countries practicing such a policy are not respecting it and are applying the same penalties on its "breachers" as those countries who ban it.

Talking about a Nobel prize winner and the architect of the DNA structure, James Watson - has recently stirred up international furore for his comments left in an interview. He said that he was "inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa" since "all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours - whereas all the testing says not really".

He resumed with saying that even though he wished that all people were equal, "people who have to deal with black employees find this is not true". Yet, he continued by saying that people should not be discriminated against because of their race as "there are many people of colour who are very talented".

As a result of these comments, Watson caused a worldwide furore and was suspended from the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York, and subsequently decided to retire completely. He is making reference to data and not opinion. So where the hell is the problem??? If any objections where to be made, one should have condemned the data and not Watson.

So what's the point in fighting for free speech when it will still be repressed even when implemented?

Attention Employers !!!
10.25.07 (7:40 pm)   [edit]

Have you been thinking how to improve your business' efficiency lately? Well, mining firm Xstrata
seems to have found an answer to such a question. They are giving their workers, mostly man coal miners, sex lessons.

The main objective of these lessons are for the workers to better understand their wives, making them happier and healthier. Diverse topics, such as fatigue, nutrition and heart disease, are brought up during these seminars. Male workers are being given education about menopause and foreplay, which gives them a healthier sex life, making them a more happy and productive workers. And they were told to explore their wives as they did when they were still 18.

An Xstrata spokesperson came out with the following comments:

We have to look at the lifestyles of our employees, making sure they are fit and healthy at work, but also fit, healthy and happy at home"

"Sex is an important part of any relationship, and it's important to address sex for an individual that is going through menopause."

And if you are an employer who sleeps at work and needs a turn on ... why not suggest the mentioned idea to your boss ...

Some Commented Interesting Facts ...
10.19.07 (4:20 pm)   [edit]
1. If you yelled for 8 years, 7 months and 6 days, you would have produced enough sound energy to heat one cup of coffee.

(Hardly seems worth it)

2. If you fart consistently for 6 years and 9 months, enough gas is produced to create the energy of an atomic bomb.

(Now that's more like it)

3. A pig's orgasm lasts for 30 minutes.

(In my next life I want to be a pig)

(How'd they figure this out, and why?)

4. Banging your head against a wall uses 150 calories an hour.

(Still can't get over that pig thing)

(Don't try this at home...maybe at work?)

5. Humans and dolphins are the only species that have sex for pleasure.

(Is that why Flipper was always smiling?)

(And pigs get 30-minute orgasms? Doesn't seem fair)

6. The strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.

(Hmmmmmmmmm........)

7. Right-handed people live, on average, nine years longer than left-handed people do.

(If you're ambidextrous do you split the difference?)

8. The ant can lift 50 times its own weight, can pull 30 times its own weight and always falls over on its right side when intoxicated.

(From drinking little bottles of...?)

(Did taxpayers pay for this research??)

9. Polar bears are left handed.

(Who knew....? Who cares? How'd they find out, did they ask them?)

10. The catfish has over 27,000 taste buds.

(What can be so tasty on the bottom of the pond?)

11. The flea can jump 350 times its body length.

It's like a human jumping the length of a football field.

(30 minutes...can you imagine?? And why pigs?)

12. A cockroach will live nine days without it's head, before it starves to death.

(Creepy)

13. The male praying mantis cannot copulate while its head is attached to its body. The female initiates sex by ripping the male's head off.

(Honey, I'm home. What the....)

(Well, at least pigs get a break there...)

14. Some lions mate over 50 times a day.

(In my next life I still want to be a pig ... quality over quantity)

15. Butterflies taste with their feet.

(Oh, Geez) (That's almost as bad as catfish)

16. An ostrich's eye is bigger than it's brain.

(I know some people like that.)

17. Starfish don't have brains.

(I know some people like that too.)

The Time Has Come for Computer Doctors
10.13.07 (11:33 am)   [edit]

Computer Doctor at work!!!

My PC is acting weird ... I probably managed to ensicken it. Actually the patient is 2 and a half years old ... so its approximate human age is 50 years. Sometimes the applications close by themselves and an illegal report error is brought up, words in writing applications are sometimes replaced by emoticons, sometimes the sound is not output and I have to open the Windows Media Player in order to get sound back to normality and it sometimes decides to pretend that it is being overloaded when it is only using 10% of its processing power.

Well, I must have clattered the Operating System in its past 2.5 years of lifetime through installing a lot of utilities and software. I can always back up the needed data and format the laptop and start working on it as if it were brand new, but that's not what I want. I mean, it's impossible to back-up my data, it being spread all over my pc.

As computers are being built more complex, better diagnosis tools are needed. Last time I used a Registery Fix program, which said that worked ... I ended up having to give a format since the pc wouldn't reboot after I used the Registery Fix. So how about Computer Doctors ?!?!

I'm sure this problem does not occur only to me. Computers are becoming an everyday item in the human life and computer population will soon outnumber the human one as every person has a computer at home and on the workplace. So, the Computer Doctor will be kept busy. But we still have a long time to go to see a National Health Services for computers!

Internet Future Looks Good
10.09.07 (4:47 pm)   [edit]

One can't deny that currently technology development is booming globally. Even in poor places, such as the African continent, where millions of people are dying of starvation, a project has still been implemented to supply them with cheap computers which will be able to access internet: the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child) Project, which I have discussed in my previous posts.

Things do not stop there. IBM and Google have teamed up to set up an educational plan where participant students will be specially trained on web-based applications. Universities wishing to offer Saas (Software-as-a-Service) course will be provided with the necessary resources to do so. Students will have access to remotely-hosted software via the internet, such as the Google Search Engine, Google Applications or IBM's hosted services platform (the latter are yet to be implemented).

One should note that Open Source is the trend this project intends to follow.
